While browsing the internet one day I ran across this Gucci floral bomber jacket and I immediately was in awe. I noticed that the luxury brand was pumping out such amazing looks all incorporating floral prints. So immediately I wanted a floral bomber jacket. And because I love a challenge, I decided to make my own version.
To create my bomber jacket, I used McCall’s M7100 jacket pattern. I decided to use contrasting trim to break up the floral print. The fabric choice was a dark satin that I bought years ago. See how my fabric hoarding continues to come in handy?
I changed the pattern a bit by shortening the jacket by 2 inches. For the waistband and wrist bands, I used black neoprene. I think I played it a bit too safe with the black. When I make this bomber jacket again, I will definitely use a striped contrast band instead.
To style the look, I went with thigh highs from Asos and these skinny jeans from Joe’s. I guess you can call this my take on casual chic. The jacket could have also paired well with sneakers or ankle boots. I have also worn the bomber with a black bodycon and pumps for dinner and I received a few compliments.
What do you y’all think? Are you a fan of floral bomber jackets as much as I am?
